Tourist Hut Opens Bowman County Pioneer The Memorial Day holiday weekend has more meaning than just remembering those who have passed. For many, this three-day weekend is the official start of the tourist season. In keeping with that tradition, the Bowman Tourist Hut is open for business. This year the information center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. seven days a week. Barb Conley, Amy Meschke, Doug Burtell, Charlotte, and Reuben Pladsen will be manning the facility. |

The site offers information on everything in North Dakota along with a calendar of events for the area. Local individuals along with those visiting the area are sure to find information on everything from local sites to those around the state. Barb Conley stated that while the center does offer a variety of information on other locations and happenings it is a goal to encourage people to remain in the local area as long as possible. Last year, visitation was up nearly 40%. Those numbers included people from every state, along with a variety of European countries. The Tourist information center was started in the early 1990's. It is managed by the Bowman Chamber of Commerce with funding through the Hospitality and Lodging Tax. The center will stay open until the middle of September. As always, the center encourages local businesses and organizations to drop off information about them or future events of the area. The Tourist Hut is located across from the Kum & Go at the intersection of Highway 85 and 12. |
