The Annual Meeting of the Bowman County Development Corporation was held on February 26th. Highlights, reports, and goals for 2014 were shared with the attendees. The BCDC has had a busy year and did not lose momentum with the staffing changes that occurred throughout 2013. The many activities and projects are highlighted in the printed annual report and Teran Doerr, Executive Director, expanded on those through an informative presentation.
The annual financials were presented by Bob Morland as well as the election of Directors. There were two available positions on the Board of Directors. Kevin Bucholz, Scott Hardy, and Jud Seaman were on the ballot. Kevin and Scott were re-elected to the Board of Directors. Officers were elected at the March 3, 2014 regular meeting of the BCDC. Officer roster is: Justin Wolbaum, President, Duane Bowman, Vice President, Julie Lockert, Secretary, Kevin Bucholz, Treasurer and the other Board of Directors include: Karen Feist, Scott Hardy, Mark Ballard, Lyn James – City of Bowman Representative, Rick Braaten – Bowman County Representative, Josh Lindstrom – Bowman Area Chamber Representative, and an open position for City of Scranton Representative.
Moving forward, the BCDC plans to continue to encourage new housing development to provide more options in Bowman County. Hand-in-hand with housing, is the retention and recruitment of workforce to assist in staffing of current openings available in the area and filling essential service needs in our communities. Through the partnership with the Small Business Development Center, the BCDC will continue to support and assist small businesses as well. In addition, with the new tourism program, further development of the tourism market for Bowman County will be a focus.
