Lyn James serves as the President of the Bowman City Commission.  She was elected to the City Commission in 1996, and served two 4 year terms  as the Street Commissioner.  In 2004 she was elected President of the City Commission, and was re-elected in 2008.

Lyn owns and operates Flowers and Cappuccino by Lasting Visions, along with her partner, LaVonne Lutz.   She serves locally on the Bowman Tax and Tourism Committee and is a member of the local Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. She was appointed to the ND Police Officers Standards and Training Board in 2008, and is serving her second term on the Executive Board of the ND League of Cities.  She also serves as the ND High School Rodeo Queen Pageant Coordinator.

Lyn and her husband Gordon have two daughters, a son-in-law and a granddaughter.
