Les Snavley is the  Vice-President of the City Commission. He is serving his second term as the Street and Garbage Commissioner.  Les states that he ‘appreciates the progressive attitudes of our citizens in Bowman." Les serves as the City representative on the Bowman County Economic Development Board.  He also serves on the County Housing Authority.

 

Formerly Les was on the Museum Board and he worked as the Museum Director.  For several years he served on the State Library board. Now, he is actively working as a Friend of the Library.  He was elected for 12 years to the NDEA State Board, representing SW North Dakota.  He was also elected to the National Teachers Board of Directors in Washington, DC for 5 years.

 

Les served as a College/University Evaluator in ND and SD for several years. He retired from education in 2002.

 

Les and Marie reside in Bowman.  During the academic year, Marie is an instructor of Art at Dickinson State University.Les and Marie own the oldest car in ND (1901 Stanley Steamer) and the oldest motorcycle (1903 Wagner). Commissioner Snavley holds degrees in English, Journalism and Library Science.  He is presently writing a book about the Milwaukee Railroad.
