Radio: KPOK of Bowman; local AM radio station; operates at 1340 Kilocycles; broadcast hours 6 a.m. through 10 p.m. daily; transmitting range approximately 100 miles. 701-523-3883.

Telephone: Consolidated Telephone Cooperative provides digital switching, more than 300 miles of fiber-optic cable and interactive video, which enables access to telemedicine and the interactive television network. Consolidated offers a wide variety of products and services, such as: Local telephone service, DSL and ISDN, Internet access, Long Distance, Verizon Wireless, E-Classroom Program and much more.

Solid Religious Influence
The church has had a long traditional influence in the area and it remains the heart of family and community life. Immigrants brought with them a medley of denominations, dotting the prairie with the spires of community and country churches. Today's churches have united in a spirit of ecumenism to form an active county ministerial association which works on religion and community service projects.

Complete Health Care

Southwest Healthcare Services is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality health care for over 5,500 residents in seven rural communities in the southwest corner of North Dakota and the northwest corner of South Dakota.

Southwest Healthcare Services offers a 23-bed Critical Care Access hospital and a 67-bed long-term care facility, seven basic care beds, a clinic, an emergency ambulance service and a home care program. Our organization, one of the most important economic assets in the region, is dependent on patient revenue and philanthropy.

Our medical staff is composed of two physicians and a full-time family nurse practitioner. Eleven additional physicians have consulting or courtesy medical privileges, allowing our residents to receive quality health care in a rural setting.


Elder Care has congregate meals available at Senior Centers throughout eight counties of southwest North Dakota for persons over 60. Home delivered meals are also available for home bound individuals over 60. For more information, call Elder Care at 701-227-1818.


The Pleasant Manor is a modern housing unit offering 30 apartments to low-income individuals in Bowman County. Both one- and two-bedroom apartments are available. Pleasant Manor also has an on-site Senior Center offering meals by elder care and transportation services provided by Southwest Transportation of Bowman.
